​Maj Gen (Retd ) Dr Atul Sharma  MS, DNB is a specialist in Gastrointestinal & Bariatric Surgery. I came in contact with him in Nov 2014, when I was weighing 130 kg with a height of 5’5”. I didn’t know what to  do as, I knew my legs were not supporting my body weight  so  I contacted the Doctors at Vedenta Medicity, Gurgoan and Max Life, Mohali  for Bariatric & Knee replacement surgery. The Orthopedic Doctors said that if I do knee replacement surgery than movement will be better. If movement is good then, I can run more briskly & thus weight will be reduced. So, I was puzzled what to do. I contacted various Doctors for Bariatric and orthopedic surgery and they suggested I should first have Bariatric Surgery. As per prevailing opinion in society usually Defence Surgeons are very good and they knew how to operate in odd conditions, so I thought that Dr Atul Sharma has all weighted parameters, thus a decision was made. I decided to go to Dr Atul Sharma Sahib for Bariatric surgery. He decided to operate on 25th Jan 2015. After preliminary test & other formalities I was operated upon for 3 hours. This is my second life.

After Surgery Dr. told me that I will reduce by 4 kg’s a month and thus on 13-Sept- 2015 now I was weighing around 98 kg or so, I lost around 32 kg that is where I got my life personally and it developed my confidence level, I started looking smarter as I was working as HOD (Applied Science) at Kalpana Chawla Govt Polytechnic for women, Ambala City. As it is a women’s institute and most of the staff is also women along with the grown up girls students, who are bright would be Engineers, so I think a teacher should be not only be master of his subject but should also have a good personality. Thus, this Surgery has given the benefit in my Professional life too. Thus I feel that a good surgeon is like a God on earth who everybody sees & experience. Nobody has seen God only Great soul’s see and experience it. So I can easily say that Dr Atul Sharma is a great Surgeon and God on earth at Alchemist Hospital, Panchkula and his wonderful services should be fully utilized by Civilians, now that he has retired after an excellent career in Defence Forces spanning for more than 37 years.
